The Mat-Su Food Coalition
The Mat-Su Food Coalition is committed to ensuring food security in the greater Mat-Su region. “Join us in our mission to guarantee sufficient access to nutritious food for everyone in the wider Mat-Su area. Together, we can make sure no one goes hungry.
Years ago, members of hunger relief organizations across the Mat-Su Valley gathered to speak out with one voice, promoting food security in our region. What began as a small group of food pantries and food banks across the valley has expanded to include agencies from various organizations dedicated to hunger relief in the valley and throughout the entire state.

🧡 SEPTEMBER IS HUNGER ACTION MONTH! 🧡
Hunger Action Month is a nationwide movement—and here in the Mat-Su, each of us has a role in building communities where everyone has access to the food they need.
How can you take action?
💵 DONATE
Support a food pantry or hunger-relief program in your community. Donate funds, food, or other needed resources. Every contribution helps local organizations put food into the hands of our neighbors.
🙌 VOLUNTEER
Give your time. Food pantries and community programs throughout the Mat-Su depend on volunteers to stock shelves, pack food, distribute groceries, make deliveries, and keep programs running.
📣 ADVOCATE
Use your voice. Learn about hunger and food insecurity in Alaska. Talk with your elected officials. Support policies that strengthen food access and protect vital nutrition programs. Share what you learn and help others understand the challenges facing our neighbors.
🤝 PARTNER
Businesses, nonprofits, schools, churches, community councils, farms, agencies, and individuals all have something to contribute. Host a food drive. Sponsor a fundraiser. Share resources. Build partnerships. Join the conversation.
Hunger doesn't look the same in every Mat-Su community—and neither do the solutions.
From our larger communities to our most rural neighbors, we are stronger when we work together.
🧡 Donate. Volunteer. Advocate. Partner. Take action against hunger this September—and throughout the year.
