Mat-Su Food Coalition

Sep 22, 2024

The Mat-Su Food Coalition (MSFC) is a group of non-profit organizations that assist families in the Mat-Su Borough in accessing food and alleviating hunger. We work together with community-focused support networks to advocate for improvements in our food system, aiming to eliminate hunger not only in our communities but across the entire state.

Hunger and food insecurity remain a persistent problem in the Mat-Su Valley. Private charitable organizations in the Mat Su Food Coalition have responded by engaging in food distribution activities. Our food banks, food pantries, kids’ meal programs, and congregate feeding sites are essential in meeting the nutritional needs of our low-income populations. These programs have a crucial role in preventing even greater rates of hunger.

We need your support in the following areas:

  • Funding for food purchases for the anti-hunger network.
  • Long-term state budget allocation for the anti-hunger network
  • Funding for infrastructure to build and improve facilities throughout the anti-hunger network
  • Operations support for pantries and food banks

We must take immediate action to support Alaskan families, improve food security and increase our success in challenging times.
